Launch of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at Vrindavan

The pradhan mantra ujjwala yojana was launched at Vrindavan by Shri Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Uma Bharati, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Ms Hema Malini and Rajkumar Rawat. Women from BPL families were given LPG connections by the dignitaries to mark the launch of the project. The pradhan mantra ujjwala yojana is an excellent scheme and fulfills the vision of our Prime Minister to provide clean fuel to the BPL families and is a boon to women because now they can cook without the smoke they usually have to inhale while cooking.

This yojana will also reduce indoor pollution and reduce the number of health hazards that women in Vrindavan face because of inhaling all the smoke. There is a plan for 100% LPG penetration in Mathura for both BPL and APL families. In only 100 days of the launch of the project, 50 Lac LPG connections have already been distributed. An effluent treatment plant has also been set up in Mathura at the cost of Rs. 40 Crore. This plant will convert the solid waste that is gathered from the polluted Yamuna and turn it into energy for industrial and agricultural use.
