Braj bhasha now a part of school curriculum in U.P
In an effort to make sure that the school students in Uttar Pradesh understand their literary heritage and develop an interest in it, the state government has now introduced Braj bhasha, Bhojpuri and Avadhi in the school curriculum. Braj bhasha enthusiasts feel that this is the right move for the preservation and promotion of the local languages, which are all but disappearing. Padma Shri Mohan Swaroop Bhatia, who is one of the Braj bhasha experts in the state and has compiled 500 folksongs in the language, is especially happy about this.
The general opinion of the public is that Braj bhasha makes for the corpus of Hindi literature and that introducing this language and other local languages in schools is a step in the right direction.
