52 Cr allotted for constructing smart roads in Mathura &Vrindavan
Under the state government’s Smart City Mission that includes Mathura-Vrindavan, two main pathways of the twin towns - ‘Chhatikara-Vrindavan’ and ‘Holigate-Masani’ have been selected for upgrade to ‘smart roads’. A sum of Rs 52.40 crore has been approved for the project.The upgrade will entail the following – road resurfacing, utility duct, storm water drainage, footpath, furniture landscaping, wall paintings, smart pole, water ATM, LED screens, and few other smart features.
The Chhatikara-Vrindavan Marg has been divided in two zones – Chhatikara to PremMandir, Vrindavan (30.47 crore) and PremMandir to Vidyapeeth Circle (9.26 crore). The pathway connects Delhi and Haryana to Vrindavan and hence serves as the main entry point for visitors from these places.The remaining 12.70 crore will be spent on the Holigate (also known as the heart of Mathura city) – Masani Marg via DwarkadhishMandir, Askunda, Chowk Bazaar, Jama Masjid and Deeg Gate.
Of the 17 municipal corporations in Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Agra, Aligarh, Jhansi, Bareilly, Saharanpur, and Moradabad have been listed under the State Smart City Mission. Under the scheme, the Mathura-Vrindavan administrative bodies will be given a sum of 50 crore per year for the next five years for development initiatives.
