Nag Panchami is being celebrated on a grand scale in Mathura. Temples, homes, ashrams and maths all worshipped the Lord of Snakes and offered him and the snakes milk. Snake charmers were also being offered donations in cash and in kind. A small fete was alsoorganized at Nag Tila, which is located at KampuGhat. Women, in their homes, made sketches of snakes on the walls with a concoction of milk and black color. These drawn snakes are then offered fruits and milk. Devotees also worshipped and encircled the statue of Nag Devta – the Lord of Snakes, at Nag Tila which was grandly decorated with flowers.
